Hospedaria Verde Esperança

The guest house is situated in a beautiful location relatively convenient for travel. It's cheap and one of the rooms even has a (limited, but appreciated) sea view (that I know of). Unfortunately, this is where the pros stop. Don't get fooled by its rustic and humble appearance, but least of all by the low charge for a stay: the hotel is, mildly put, sub-par. It's under-staffed, I had only seen the owners on duty. Their accommodation left something to be desired to boot. You have to ask every time you want towels. The hotel doesn't seem equipped to host more than a handful of guests at a time, it gets cramped. There are three bathrooms and one kitchen for everyone to share. Hot water ran out once. Shortage of dishware and cutlery. Sheets aren't properly washed (old stains still present and plainly visible). All of this would've even been tolerable if not for one calamitous flaw: Bed bugs. No matter how cheap, be it one cent per night, it is not worth the trouble. I don't exaggerate. Come at your own risk, and only your own: don't bring family into this, especially not kids.tl;dr Have some self-respect and don't book Verde Esperança. The guest house belongs in a nightmare.
